Using SSL or HTTPS with SimpleHelp
SimpleHelp supports both SSL and HTTPS as a network connection but it is not necessary to use these to ensure that remote sessions are secure. Although mobile access sessions require SSL and HTTPS, technician-app based sessions may make use of non-SSL or non-HTTPS network connections to allow you to gain access to the remote machine, but all data communicated is still securely encrypted. For a more detailed explanation of this see our Security Guide.
If required, SimpleHelp can be configured to use SSL connections only however we do not recommend this as it restricts the available connections and SimpleHelp is already running DTLS encapsulated with AES-256 and RSA-4096 on any network connection. Again for more information see our Security Guide.
SSL can be easily configured directly through the Administration console by the SimpleHelpAdmin user, with the option to use an existing SSL certificate, or to generate a self-signed certificate.
