You will need to install the latest version of the Java runtime from www.java.com. This is only required for the server. You can then extract the SimpleHelp download zip file into your Program Files folder under Program Files\SimpleHelp.
Once you have it extracted, you should open Wordpad and edit the file Program Files\SimpleHelp\service\shelp.service. In this file you will need to change the paths in the
WORKINGDIR and
CMDLINE entries to match where your Java virtual machine is installed (e.g. "C:\Program FIles\Java\...") and where your SimpleHelp folder is located (e.g. "C:\Program Files\SimpleHelp").
Once the paths are OK you can double click the file 'installservice.bat' to install SimpleHelp as a service. Note that you may need to right-click and select 'Run As Administrator' in Vista, 7, Server 2008 or later.
When the command has completed your SimpleHelp server will be installed as a service and will already be running.
